One way to rub shoulders with base of the Texas Republican Party and to experience election process in action while listening to some very good leaders is to volunteer to work the convention.
I was selected for Sergeant-at-arms duty after completing all the necessary application documents and answering a few questions. I found myself in a training room with about 150 men and women very early this morning at the Fort Worth Convention Center and was one of the few rookies in the room so I was assigned to work the registration desk. That meant answering lots of questions about location of services and standing for my four hour shift. It was enjoyable and I visited with many people from all over the state.
The highlight of the day was Ron Paul’s speech in the arena. In person he is very likable and inspiring and he had the crowd hanging on every word.
