Egypt – Day Five

After sleeping in till 8:00 am we missed breakfast on the boat so we walked down the scenic shoreline street to the local McDonalds where we enjoyed a McArabia and coffee while watching the children swim and have fun on the stone wall and steps of the Nile.

We then walked about a mile up the shoes to the Nubian Museum where we learned all about the dark- skinned Egyptians who played such an important role in Egyptian history and even ruled Egypt for some 100 years. They also were predominately Christian for a time until Islamists killed leading Christians off around 1,500 AD.

After returning to our boat, we hung out in the lounge and in an adjacent shoreline restaurant until 6:30 when we were escorted to the train station for an overnight trip to Cairo.
